Financial Markets Accreditation Program
The AFMA Financial Markets Accreditation Program is the benchmark industry-based qualification for individuals who work in Australia's traded financial markets.
Who should enrol?
The Financial Markets Accreditation Program is designed for individuals currently working in traded financial markets who are looking for formal recognition of their skills and knowledge. It is open to both member and non-member organisations.
What will you achieve?
When you successfully complete the program you will achieve one or more of the following:
- The nationally recognised Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Markets) FNS51004. You will be entitled to use the post nominal Dip.FM;
- Compliance with ASIC Regulatory Guide 146 and/or 105 depending on the pathway you choose. RG 105 is obtained via either pathway, while RG146 is obtained only via pathway 1;
- AFMA accredited individual status – if your employer is an AFMA member; and
- ASX ADA Level 1 Accreditation when you complete the Core and Equity Markets Modules.
How is the Program structured?
Two modules are completed through a combination of workshop attendance, self study and assessment. For participants who have relevant experience or previous training, there are a number of alternatives to completing the full public program. Assessment consists of one multiple choice exam for each module and one ePortfolio-based skills assessment that covers both modules.
You must complete:
- The compulsory Financial Markets Core Workshop; and
- At least one of the six Product Specialist modules. Choose from:
There are two pathways that can be followed to complete the Program and the content of modules may vary depending on which is chosen.
- Pathway 1 is for individuals in client advisory roles who require compliance with ASIC RG146 and / or RG 105.
- Pathway 2 is for individuals in dealing room or operational roles who may also require compliance with RG 105.

When you're ready to book an exam for a module, send an email to assessment@afma.com.au with your:
- Name;
- Exam to complete;
- Date you need to complete by; and
- Supervisor details (if you're completing it in-house).
